Please join us for a Scouts BSA First Aid Merit Badge Day on November 23 from 10am to 5pm. Scouts who participate in the full program will earn the Merit Badge. Please bring a Blue Card signed by your Unit Leader, a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration, a water bottle, and any snacks that you will need for the day.
Joan Geleskie, a Juniata Valley Council approved Merit Badge Counselor for the First Aid Merit Badge, will lead Scouts through all of the requirements for the Merit Badge including
- Shock and stroke
- Head, neck, and spinal injuries
- Prevention of outdoor injuries
- First aid kits
- Basic first aid
- Bone and joint injuries
- Weather emergencies
- How move a victim
- And more
Twin Creeks Ambulance company will also join us for the day (barring an emergency) in order to share their expertise and give Scouts a chance to see the rescue vehicle.
Cost for this event is $8 per participating youth if registered before Nov 18th and $12 for late registrations. Registration will open on November 1.
While multiple BSA leaders will be present to maintain Youth Protection requirements, Scouts BSA leaders and parents are welcome to stay. Scouts who attend without a unit leader should also bring an Activity Consent Form.
Scout groups who wish to tent camp overnight around Legacy Lodge either before or after the program may do so for $5 per youth. Tenters are responsible for their own food, supplies, and adult supervision. Fire rings are available for cooking and the bathrooms and showers inside Legacy Lodge will be available for your use.
