All Day

Unit II

Joan Geleskie will be conducting a Wilderness First Aid course out in Wald. Participants interested in joining her should email JGeleskie@minitab.com:

We will meet at Wald at 6:30 Friday, 6/28 for the CPR portion of the class and begin WFA at around 8:00 pm.  We will stay overnight at Wald and continue working on WFA all day Saturday.  Depending on the experience and skill level of the participants we may finish Saturday evening or continue Sunday morning.

Cost for Adult CPR* only is $30.  Cost for CPR and WFA is $65.  Cost for WFA only is $43.  Please note:  CPR certification is required before starting WFA.  Participants who are not currently CPR certified must take the CPR class.  Cost includes the certification fee(s) and site rental.  Participants should bring their own food.  Any extra funds raised will be donated to Friends of Golden Pond.

Participants who want to do the CPR certification must complete the online portion before class.  The link is:

Adult CPR/AED 1:05 HSSSFA511 r.2017

NOTE: The Adult CPR only option DOES NOT include first aid and is NOT sufficient for renewing first aid certifications required by scout groups.

Participants should pack as if they were going on a 4 day backpacking trip.  They should bring everything that they would normally pack for a trip.  Tents, water filters, first aid supplies, everything!  Yes, we will have cabins with bunks, potable water, stoves and all the niceties of camp, but when we are doing the WFA scenarios the only equipment you will have to use is what you carry.  One exception:  I will not ask you to unwrap sterile packaging.  I have gauze rolls and pads that I reuse for class.  You can trade your unopened supplies for my reusable ones.  I will give you back your clean unopened supplies at the end of each scenario.
