In 1988 Hemlock Girl Scout Council dedicated Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond “with the hope that Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond will be a source of fun and fond memories for Girl Scouts for many generations.” Thirty years later we find ourselves facing the possibility that dream might die.
On November 2, 2017, the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA voted to include Camp Golden Pond as one of properties it will “retire” as a Council-owned property. As a result, Friends of Golden Pond seeks to acquire the camp in order to continue the property’s purpose as an outdoor enrichment center. Camp Golden Pond was built by Girl Scouts, for Girl Scouts. We hope that the property can spend another 30 years serving our girls.
We aim to promote leadership and youth development through safe, affordable camp experiences that will allow both youth and adults to develop confidence, courage, and an appreciation for the outdoors.
